Dolphins-Commanders Immediate Reactions
Immediate reactions from the Dolphins hard-fought win over the Commanders in Spain

The Dolphins came away with a win in Spain to make it 2 in a row. Madrid was treated to extra football after Matt Gay missed a 56-yard field goal to win it with mere seconds to go in regulation — and even gave the Dolphins a tiny chance to win the game in regulation, but Tua’s throw to Waddle was a bit off and he wasn’t able to come down with the catch to set up a 60-something-yarder for Riley Patterson. Instead, the game went to OT and the Dolphins’ defense finally came away with a turnover, picking off an ill-advised throw from Marcus Mariota on the first play in OT. De’Von Achane did his thing from there, and Patterson finished things off by drilling a 29-yard game-winning field goal to get the Dolphins their second consecutive win (and their third win in their last 4) to get them feeling good going into the bye week.
I would classify Tua’s game as “good enough.” Most importantly, no mistakes! Although he had a pass nearly picked off when he was trying to go deep to Jaylen Waddle on first down, it ended incomplete. Other than that, he played well enough to keep his team in the game. It was not an “impressive” game by any stretch (14-20, 171 yards and 0 touchdowns), but it was enough. And especially with the emergence of Ollie Gordon II and the continued domination of De’Von Achane, he didn’t need to be anything more than good enough to get the Dolphins a win.
Mike McDaniel had more than 1 questionable decision (which I’ll get to in another post) and he literally almost lost them the game, but for now I’ll let it slide as we all relish in another Dolphins victory! Those haven’t been easy to come by of late, so I think we should all sit on the victory feeling as much as we can. No matter how it looks or how close it gets to slipping through their fingers, it’s always great to get a win — especially 2 in a row!
And yes, another win brings the Dolphins down even further in the draft order, but it is what it is… at least it’s a win!
